HMT named 'Corporate Finance Team of the Year' at recent awards

HMT fought off competition from the likes of Grant Thornton and PwC to be named ‘Corporate Finance Team of the Year’ at the recent Thames Valley & Solent Deal Awards.

The event, a black-tie gala evening at Oakley Hall, near Basingstoke, welcomed over 400 leading names from the Corporate Finance community, bringing together representatives of banks, private equity firms, law firms and accountants to celebrate their deals successes over the past 12 months.

Having scooped three awards at last year’s ceremony, HMT once again demonstrated its ability to punch above its weight, commended by the judges for taking on some high profile deals for a firm of its size. These included advising brightsolid on its acquisition of Friends Reunited Group, which narrowly missed out on the qualifying date for this year’s entry, and will surely be a contender for ‘Deal of the Year’ in 2011.

The ‘Team of the Year’ award was  presented by HSBC’s Mark Frettingham, who commented, “HMT Corporate Finance has proven itself to be very active across a wide variety of sectors and is a significant player in the mid-market across our regions. I’d like to congratulate HMT on this very deserving award.”

HMT partner Andrew Thomson, who led the team to the stage to collected the award, commented afterwards, “As a focussed regional business and without either an international brand or a large compliance base to feed off we recognise the need to over deliver on every transaction to maintain our market position.”

“This can only be achieved by having strength in depth across the HMT team. For that reason, we think we won the best award of the night with the whole team being recognised for their contribution to a range of deals completed in the last 12 months.”
