Work Life
Doug has over 10 years M&A tax experience.
Doug began his tax career with Ernst & Young in Birmingham in 1996, following 2 years of post graduate teaching in 20th century South African history. Qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1999, Doug made a permanent move into the Transactional Tax team in Bristol and Reading to continue his M&A tax career, where he also qualified as a chartered tax adviser. Doug left Ernst & Young to join Tenon in 2002, where he helped to start and build up the corporate finance tax offering, before moving to HMT in 2003 to do the same.
Doug’s expertise is in structuring M&A transactions, both from vendor and purchaser perspectives; corporate reorganisations and reconstructions; share schemes and tax due diligence.
Downtime
Doug is married to Jenny, with 2 young children, living in a pretty village in the Lambourn Valley.
Outside of work, Doug is a keen hockey player for Swindon Hockey Club, and also enjoys wildlife photography, having regularly taken bush camping trips to southern Africa, before limiting his horizons on the arrival of his children. Next goal in life is to train the little ones into hockey players who like wilderness camping…
